Camp Hancock. Via.
Dear Father I receveed
your kind Letter and it found us all well at present and i hope this one may find you all the same when it comes to hand you wanted to no the opinion of the men here they all say that they dont think that they ever can whip the Rebs but they are willing to try at Least there wasome of them was in the last fight if it hadent of / bin for the eleventh Corps they would of whipped them there but they run and Let the rebs flank us on the right and then we fell back some and threw up brest works and when we got that done they ordered us on picket and they put some of the balls very close to us for we had to conceal our selves behind trees and stumps and some of our boys got wounded one of them that was close to mee got his thumb shot off ataking the cartrig out of the box they made us skiddle as Jacob sais when we was supporting the Barie they men was all killed but one corprell and our men pulled / The cannon off of the field I think that some of the other Men wants the Praise for taking them of but they can say what they please but we took them off of the field the wether is very warm here at this time Cub is still driving team and is well and the rest of the boys is well at present there is nothing More at present but istill remain sun
