Dear Father and Mother i seat my selfe to drop you a few lines to let you know that Thomas was found on the Battle field dead he was killed on the 2ond of this Month I went with some of our boys and beried two of Thomas and our 4 surgent and a Lieutenant was beried by a large oak tree a bout 2 miles south of GettiesBurg we buried them as well as we could under the circumstances Jonson toppin was wounded in the shoulder but was a getting better / when i seen him he was able to come out on the battle field the day we left there the rest of the boys is well as far as i know I halve not time to right much this time I will tell you more the next time you must excuse me for not right ting sooner for ihad not time to right
