                                                                                    Camp Near Bealton station va.
 
                                                                                                            Dear parents it is
with the greatest of pleasure that I seat myself to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present and i hope these few lines may find you in good sperits the rest of the boys is well also Jesse Morris has got back to the regment and we look for Jonson soon Levie taylor has had 3 pieces of boan taken out of his and the Dr thinks that he can save the arm but it will all ways bee stiff the rest of the boys in the Hospital is doing well we halve very warm wether here now it is the hotest that ever i experienced you said some thing a bout mee a picking Black beries out here we halve had lots of them all along on the march and can get them here but the boys dont care much a bout them now we got plenty of sugar / we can stem them or make pies it is hard to get any pans to bake in we halve bin payed 2 months pay since we stopped and I am not agoing to send any home now for I am a looking for a furlow as soon as they are granted to our Corps and the Liew tenent sweeny said he would do all he could for the boys that came from town the Captain had command of the Company all along till the Colonel was killed and then he was Acting Major and our other Liew tenent was taking prisner the captain Let his boys that come from where he did halve furlous last winter and I think we will get them now the Liew tenent said he would let mee go among the first you wanted to know wether I was with Thomas when he was shot or not he was on the right of the Company and i was on the left and we had to right a bleak to fill up the line or else thare would / Bin a open spase the Gresh Briggade joined us on the right and they Give way and that was the reason we was flanked and the Companies was all mixed up it was so warm in there that we could hardly get out our selves I drank all of the water that i had in my Canteen and i got out of the strip of woods and left the man that we was a heping out we left him behind arock and i found a puddle of water and drank some and filled my Canteen again and rested till the rebs had got nearly around us and we seen a plase on the right agoing out where we broke for and the we got to the 2 Corps Hospietal and they all told us that our Corps was at the rear and we went on back and found Jonson and Ben at the 11 Corps hospital and staid there all night and waited on the wounded men / and the next day we went to the regment it was in front again but we could not get out on the field for the sharpshooters and the next day we went out and found them and while we was a bering the boys we was ordered off of the field and we had not the Grave dug yet and we stade till we got them beried and then went to the regment and we started after the rebs you wanted to know where he was shot he was shot in under the Chin and in the throat he must of bin killed sudent that is all that I can think of this time
