Camp Near Bealton station va.
Dear Father it is
with the greatest of pleasure that I seat my self to answer your kind letter which I received some days ago and was glad to here from you and the rest of the family but sorrow to here that you was unwell I am in joying reasonable healt at present and the rest of the Boys the same I was sorrow to here of you a loosing your money we got 2 months pay since we came here and I intended to send some home but the wether is so hot here and the rations is hard to keep from spoiling we get Beaf and it dont keep only long a nough to cook one meal we can get any thing here that we want but we / Halve to pay for it and i am not a going to starve while i halve any of uncle sams money in my pocket I am a trying for a furlow hard i dont know how it will bee yet you wanted mee to see a bout William Horten i went up to Co. C and seen esay Powell he told mee that the last they seen of him he was wounded and they Could not help him off of the field they say they think that the Pioneers Beried him if they did he is in alarge grave for they put severel in one hole when there is no one that knows the purson I sent Benjamin a Frank Lesly Last week there is nothing moor of any im portance so istill remain
