                                                                                    Camp Near the Rapidan River Va
 
                                                                                    Dear Parents i take the pleasure of droping you a few Lines to letyou that I am well at present and the rest of the boys is the same we are a laying along the Railroad To support the Pickets They halve Changeed our regment from third Briggade To the first now and there is 2 Corps halve gon from here to the western army the first and 12 Corps we halve Bin Payed off a gain I sent 10 dollars in Hariettes Letter started on the 28 of this month we got 2 month pay The wether is very Cool in the evening and warm through the day time Jesse M Carter said that he wants a pair of boots to I want you to nail the in side of the heels put a few in the toes and good stiffenrs Benjmine wants his the same and Jesse to. you know a bout how to make Them I supose there could bee a good many sold here now while they halve / The money after while they wont halve it But you can get it in 2 months we are payed off every 2 months but there could bee 30 or 40 pairs sold after while for the sutlers cant get to go to Washington to get any boots or shoes and there was only 2 or 3 boxes came and they are a use ing the Cavelry Gards the sutlers through that is all that I can think of this time O yes the news we got here Last knight was that Brags was whiped and Lost 50 piecces of artilry i dont know how true it is so i still remain your
