                                                                           Camp on the Rapihannic river, Va.
Dear Father
 
I wonce more seat my self to scribble you a few lines to let you know that I am well at present and the rest of the boys is the same I receiveed aletter from had and she said that Jonson Toppin had came home on a 20 days furlow and if you can send Jesse M carter Benj F Hawthorn and my self a pair Boots out with him I wish you would do so. I sent you word to pay Thomas Carter 500 dollars for mee which I receiveed from Jesse befor we left for Geties Burg and Jesse said that you had not payed him yet / I wish you would pay him and get a receipt and sind it to mee and then that will bee sadis factory to all well they say they are a going to Brake up the seckond Corps and send a part of it to Rosy and the other part in the Defence of washington City there is nothing mor at presen Tell Jon to vote fr Curtain in my plase your sun George W Carter
