Well Father I
seat my self to answer your kind welcome Letter which I receeveed some days ago and was glad to here that you all was well your letter found mee well and the rest of the boys the same we are on Picket now we halve crossed the rapihannic and our Corps Lays where the rebs had there winter quarters made I wish you would send mee a pair of mittens good ones that will stand the nox and Ben wants a pair too and you can send to baco here for 20 cents a pound by Leaveing one end of it open I seen Thomas Butler the other day and he was / well and said that Peter was well the Last Letter he got there is a greate deal of the Prarie grass here and it caught a fire yesterday and they had to call the Pickets out to stop it for it was so windy the sixth Corps Captured two Briggades of rebs and a 11 piecces of artilry the other day there is nothing of any importance a going on here so I will Close for the present George. W. Carter
