Boulder, Colo., May 22, 1905.
Dear Comrade of Co. K, 140 P. V.:
The Commander in Chief, W. W. Blackmar, Boston, and members of the Staff have just visited the Department Encampment of Colorado and Wyoming in Denver on the official tour of visits to the different Departments of the G. A. R. in the United States. He states that the attendance on the National Encampment in Denver, to open on the 4th of next September, will be immense.
Are you expecting to attend this Encampment? Remember the railroad rate is one cent per mile. Your comrades, J. K. P. Magill, 100 Block P, Pueblo, Colo., Geo. A. Hanlin and Ben. F. Powelson, much desire your attendance. And we, having conferred together, will do all we can to make your stay in Denver and Colorado pleasant and profitable.
First of all we want to know, just as soon as possible, whether or not you are coming, and how many of K are coming, and whether wife or other members of the family will accompany you. Then we will make arrangements for quarters, lodging, etc. This is important, for already many places have been engaged; most hotel room has been spoken for. We stand ready, Comrade, to serve you to the best of our ability.
So let us hear from you at once, and give us your present, correct address.
Yours in F. C. and L.,
B. F. Powelson,
