Amboy June 30th 1863
Dear Uncle i take
my pen in hand to let you know that i am well and hope these few lines will find you the same i do not know as we shall ever hear from you agane for we have wrote twice so we thought we would write agane we have just heard bad news you have lost another brother Uncle Henry is dead he was killed on the 17 of June he was shot in the side and fell and then another came and hit him in the left eye and killed Him Mr Shoon who enlisted with him said he buried him as well as he could he said he look very bad he was so mangeld h Mr Spohn says he dont know who will bury him when he is dead for he haint no friends thare uncle Henry was robed of ever thing he had only a towel he had in his pocket before Mr Spoon could get to him i do not think of eny more so good by
