            Dear parents I recieved yours last night and was glad hear from home Mr Thomas Mr Cook and myself all had a letter from home at once I wrote day before yesterday was on guard yesterday of duty to day I wrote to Martha Westgate to and Leonard last week I wish you would send a paper once in a while and even if you donot get a letter very often Mr Thomas has a Brother in the 14 Mass Regt who has been out 18 months and has not heard from fre him for a year when we came to arlington hights he found him at / fort Albany safe and sound whare he had been all the tim he had writen home till he give it up and his friends had done the same there is about 25 Forts on Arlington and the other hights and thing that happens enywhare on the line is know in a few minets by flags in day time and signal lights in the night I do not know where the 10 Mas. is now but was at Fairfax Seminary and the 2 N. H. they moved a few days ago there is an old rebel lives close by our camp and it takes 18 men to watch hous and the soldirs from it I wish they would take him and make a hospital / of his house the boys say that he told one of them that he would shoot one of them as soon as he would a rabbit I donot think he will tell a grate many men in our Co so if he does we will take him all his nigers have run away the snow has not all gone yet the wind blows and it frose some last night we are going to have a storm tomorow and then we can be as warm as mise when Thomas gets well we are going to get our pictures taken togather and send them home I should like to know how you found out I had Carries picture I have not and never had I heard Lyndon before we left Brattleburo / Mr Kimbal was geting better so some ladies told me at Brattleburo I am geting along first rate am five pounds hevyer than whe I came here so some grow poor and some fat you remember Walker the man that worked in grist mill last winter he is in the Island pond Co. tell the young folks to write yours with respect

if you can not see why the war does not go on faster just come out and you will see their is more than 10000 men in 20 miles of here and it takes as much pushing to move them as we have I should not think they would ever stir but dont bee afraid of thair takeing washington
