Dear Parents we are payed of to day from the day we went too Lyndon up to the first of Nov. which gives us 19.60 each and I had 6 dollars owing to me which I got so I will send you a check for 20 dollars you can get the money on it at eny bank in Vermont the nearest to you is at St johnsbury I thought that this would the safest way to send it most of the boys sent in this way we moved down here the 20th of Jan to guard the Stasion we went in to some barracks that Slocums men left so we are have comfortable quarters and the weather is / very warm and has been for the last two week it rains a little this after noon their is three months pay due us the first of Feb. and the pay master said we sho should be payed again in April I supose our time does not begin till the 22ond of Oct. the day we were mustered in to the United States service so we shal not get home till the 22ond of july but I dont care much about that if I have my helth Sert Sergent Charmberlin came over from the 12 Regt. night before last with dispatch from his Col. to ours and stayed over night with me the 12th is 6 miles from us now at wolf run / I had a letter from Leonard yesterday he said that his Uncle Hiram was dead I think he died in Nove Nov. and Mrs Gilmore and Lorette are at Claremont now he was brought to Claremont and buried Leonard runs the old Grist Mill too halfs this winter Homer and William Rice were in the Battle at Fredricksburg and came out all right
 
I am well and doe not have to do eny guard duty at all nor fatigue out of the Company I have not heard from you for two weeks I think you are / geting lazy but when you get this write and let me know it soon as you can get the money
