Dear Parents your kind letter was recieved in due time I was very to hear from you I sent a Soldiers record to you and I want you to have it put in a frame I sent aletter the same day but put it in before I got the roll it began to snow about 11 oclock last night and has fell 6or8 6 or 8 inches and is still comeing it will make it bad for the boys in front who have nothing but shelter tents but we get along here finely I went over to the 16th yesterday and saw Sergent Adams Brother of the Miss Adams that went south he said that Etta went / through Brattleburo the same day that his Regt. left their but he did not know it at the time I had a letter from Annis 2or2 2 or 3 weeks ago she said that Etta was at Uncle Clements on a visit Mr Cook is detailed as wood choper for the Cook house and Officers Quarters I am glad of it for he will hal have an easy time and will not have eny guard or other duty I think that I have answerd your last letter but I will send this your dont write as often as I do by half but I supose that you dont get time and I dont have eny thing do half of the time so I write to / to pass away the time the Color Sergent is sick but is geting well sergent Graves of our Co. is in the Hospital he has had the tyfoid fever and pnumonia but is geting well I had a letter from Sam last week I will send it to you perhaps you would like to read it he seems to like the western Country better than ever and wants I should Come out there when I get home but I cannot tell so long before hand but if I should ever get home I think I will spp stop there a few days if you will keep me but I am not home / nor sick and shal not bee so long as I can get enough eat that you know well as I can tell you I will send you a piece of hard tack some time you must soak it or you will break your teeth out but it is good for soldiers we have soft bread 2 days in 5 fresh beef 2 days in 5 soop and pork and beans and rice the rest of the time I dont buy much only only onions and have to pay 5 cents a pound for them I guess you will think this is a droal letter but if you dont answer it I will write another
