Midleburo Md. july 9th 1863
Dear Parents I received your letter last night it was the first mail we have had since we left union we have marched 200 miles since then and 3 of our Regts have been in battle the 13th 14th 16th our Regt has not been engaged but was on the ground one day and night and suported a Battery the 13 goes home to day our Regt. is still with the train but may bee orderd to join the other two in the field or bee / relieved by one of them we were ordered to march last monday from Westminster but we only just got started when an order came to halt till further orders we turned into a field parked the teams got orders to march at dark and marched all night and halted at day light 2 or 3 hours then started again Fredrick City got there at 4 PM Started from there yester morning and came here marching 8 or 10 miles to day we are resting but / may get orders eny minute to leave I think Lee will bee baged and his whole army as he has distroyed his amunition train and is trying hard to get away their was a spy hung at Fredrick City last monday and he was still hanging yesterday morning it was said one or two more were to bee hung on the same tree
I wont write eny more now but will write again again when I have a chance
