Dear Parents I recieved yours yesterday and was glad to hear from home it does not seem much like sunday here we had a brigade drill this forenoon and have a meeting this after noon I have not been on duty for three days till to day have had the Brattleburo qick step a disorder that prevales here I am not afraid of the big fat man that you speak of for I have a topbunk I think we have the best looking Captain in the Regiment my Mr Thomas has gone home so I have to sleep alone we are to / be mustered this week and paid but are not leave till nex monday and I shal try and get a furlow and go to Claremont the last of the week our Company has the name of being the most orderly in the Reg and I think it is how many potatoes did you have on the plain and on the hill how much corn and how do thogs grow and have you sold eny more pigs fix a good place for the colt the men are afraid that the nine months will not comence till the 10th of september but when are mustered into the service but one thing is certain our pay begins the day of enlistment /
I want John to macke me a larg plate to mark my clothes and straps &c use the larg letters I will mark out the size it will not need a frame tel the girls to write give my respects to all inquireing friends from your son
