            Dear Brother I take this opertunety to riting yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at presant onley I have got a bile on my sholder but hit is a geting beter but Lurestin I reseaved youre leter on the sixth of dec but yow & mother sent me a leter when I was on the trip but but I got hit at Louisville & was glad to here from yow but Lureston yow wanted me to tell you how I liked solgern but I like hit very well but they haint give that job to me yet but I aint done eney thing sence I have bin here but I exspect they will give me that job for I want hit I doe but Lurestin yow doe the best yow can until I come home for we all think there will / be pease pirty soone and we all will get home but ther there aint no Rebls here but there is some in bout one hundard miles from here but we wont goe there a tall we are keeping up the rear guard & we have left Louisvill last Monday morning but we are now a bout one mile this side ove Lisebth toun & we dont now how soone we will leave here but Lurestin tell Frank that I got his 3 cents that he sent me & I will send him a presant when I can get him a nice one but Lurestin yow tell mother to send me Frances litness in the next Leter & Sises to & rite soone & direct to Louisvill Ky Co B 3 ohio redgt ovm

            Dear Johney I never sent yow eney leter yet but I will tell yow a bout the trip Joheney we left virginey and we are now about 42 miles this side ove Louisvill but we onley come a way to get the rest ove the redgtment a way from Louisvill & we just heard that we was a going back to morow to guard Louisvill & we will be at home then & you can send a box from home to me but when we we get ther I will rite to yow & Lureston & mother & all ove my friends but Johney yow do the best yow can but mebey I will get home after while but keep that / rule that I give yow & do what yow can in the shop but Johney I am all rite now onley I have got a bille on my Sholder but it is a geting beter now Soe that is all at presant
