Bowling Green

Dear Brother I take this opertunety to writing yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at presant and hoping when these few lines comes to hand they may find yow in the same state of helth but lurestin I reseaved youre letter to day and I wos glad to her from yow well lurestin we left Bacon creek on the 10 of the month and went to Green River and staid there 2 days and then we started for Bolen Green and the first night that we campt after we left Green River we staid where the Rebles had Burnt up a rail Road Bridge Station and the Rebles did cut down oll the trees that ws on the road and oure men had to cut them out of the road and they cut tore up the Rail Road track for too miles long and we run them be fore us clan to Bolen Gren and when we got to Bolen Green the Rebles was a leaving and Burning the town and they Burnt up a nice / moshean shop and there was a bout 4 car loads of the Rebles old guns and knives and pistils and they burnt up a nice Bridge and burnt up the calthick curch and a god eal of the town and when oure men commenced to throwing bum shells in the town they oll run out ove the town and oure men saved one of there cannons and 5 engines and oll ove people was glad to hear that we had Bolen Green but when oure men got over in the town and comencd to killing some of the Rebles and they soone run up the Stars and Stripes and old Genral Michel clum up on the court house and naild the Stars and Stripes but now this plase be longs to us and we thing that we will take a tripe to Nashvill in a few weeks but lurestin yow sed that Isaac Hall wants me to rite to him when yow write tell him I will when I get time but lurestin that doler done me a greate eal of good /

Dear Father I take this opertunety to writing yow a few lines to let yow now that we have got Bolen Green and none of oure men heart but there was 5 or 6 of the Rebles kild and the Rebles did run but if they had of Staid we was a geting in be hind them but I exspect that we will go to Nashvill and clean them out there but pap there was a bridge that the Rebles burnt here and hit was all iron but them oill wells is here they are a bout 15 miles from her but pap ask zecle Mill if he did bord at house in Bolen Green the name of the house hit is Moorehead house they sed that they borded there and they can come and work now for Bolen Green belongs / to us now and we are a going to hold hit but pap that dolar that you sent me done me a goodeal of good but that is oll at presant write Soone and direct to Bolen Green Kentuckey in care of capt James H Wing Co B 3d ohio redgt ovm             but give my best respecks
