            Dear Father I take my pen in hand to rite yow a few lines to let yow now that I am well at presant and hoping when those few lines comes to hand thay may find yow and oll of the folks the same state of helth well pap we got paid of to day and I sent yow 25 dollars I put it in with David Edsons money we sent it with to Mr Mackel I will tell yow the reason that I did not sen send 50 dollars we didant get paid for 5 monthes we onley got paid for 3 monthes / and if I had of got paid of for 5 months I would of sent yow 50 50 dollars. but I cant do it but we ar a going to get paid for 3 month in a few day a gain we just got orders to march we ar a going to go to to marrow morning we ar a going to go to Bowling Green Ky I think but pap ther wos a beeg Battell a bout 60 miles from her I will tell yow ho got cild in ouer companey Elley Hall Robert Griffith George Swanie Bush hoge that is oll that wos cild Simmon Buttler got wounded he is a coming home / Bill Moore he got wounded he youst to work for yow but pap tomey is a going to rite to yow So no more at presant
