Sister Fannie
Your letter was received last evening. I found it at my brothers when I returned from my school on that evening. I am on the sick list to day, was quite sick last night and to day have had to take lots of bitter medicine, but I am recovering slowley and probably will be myself again in a day or two. so you need not expect much of a letter from me this time. however I will do the best I can under the circumstances, trusting you will forgive wherein it may fall short. I am very busily engaged with my school. have taught two weeks and like it pretty well. I have onley about twenty four scholars yet. I am expecting a few more, will not have probably to exceed thirty. I have / seven or eight young ladies which makes the school more pleasant you know I am boarding around the district and have some rich times.

            Sunday morning
I must try and finish this letter this morning as I am to go back to my school to day. we are having the most beautiful weather that I ever saw for December I am in hopes that it will continue so until after New Years. you ask if you may expect me the 1st of Jan. I am coming over if it is a possible thing. something may turn up that will prevent my coming but I am in hopes not. Mib is talking of going over with me as far as Waupaca and perhaps she will make up her mind to come down and see you. I presume she will. I am acquainted with your teacher Miss Marsh I believe is she not a relative Elder Marsh who preaches at Waupaca? are you / going to school this winter if you are you must be carefull and not get punished for you know that is the lot of naughty scholars generally I used to find it so when I went to school. Fannie, there is no news of any account here and you know what a very dull place this is, when there is nothing going on, hence the flatness of this letter. It is nearley time for me to go to my school so I suppose I shall have to close. I will tell you every thing when I see you that I have forgotten to write in this. all of our people are well and send their best respects. so now Fannie good by. please write soon & please give my regards to your people

            I remain your sincere friend
