Dearest Frank,
It is ten o-clock at night and my friend Amelia and I sit by the table writeing letters she is writeing to somebody way down in Dixie Land & I am writing to somebody too.
I am in town to night sister Sarah has been down this evening & I’ll assure you we have been having a fine time. Amelia and I are nearly tired out bu we having laughed so much but I did not know whether I should / have another opportunity of answering your letter this week, consequently I concluded to improve the present.
Oh, Frank I am so lonely without you. I often feel very bad, but I am going to hope for the best.
Frank if such letters as I write cheer you I am glad of it I imagine when you read this one you will laugh, even if you feel very down hearted I feel so stupid I hardly know what I am about. I am pretty well at present though I have had a severe cold on my lungs since you left. Well I am getting over it now, though I cough some yet.
I saw Mr Post of Almond / in town this morning we met very unexpectedly he came down after Mr Slaters things goods, was going to move them to A—
I intend to-morrow evening to go to Mr Penny’s to see Mrs Orcutt they expect her to be there.
Now dear Frank I want you to promise me one thing that if you are called into battle and are wounded you will let me know the worst, in some way. you will now, won’t you? It is getting late and I must close, so good night & write soon may God bless you & protect you where ever you may be
Yours, affectionately
Fannie
P. S. Did you receive the money that I sent you? excuse all mistakes for I am so sleepy
