Frances E. Doty to Francis M. Guernsey, 19 October 1862
Weyauwega
Oct 19th 1862.
Dear Frank,
Enclosed you will find the two dollars which you sent me before you left Berlin. I received the letter with the money in it some two or three days since. would have sent it before but I did not know when you were to leave Oshkosh, but Mr Baldwin said that you promised to write to him as soon as you got orders to go, consequently I thought you would receive this before you left Oshkosh. I did not like to run the risk / of sending the money afterward the letter must have been delayed so we must not blame the clerk in the post office any more.
Well Frank how are you getting along I want to see you so very much but it is getting late & I must close for it is nearly church time you will excuse this miserably written letter will you not. my pen is so very poor I can hardly write at all & I am not at home. now dear Frank write as soon as you receive this so that I will know that you it reached you safely. write often to your own affectionate
Fannie
