Francis M. Guernsey to Frances E. Doty, 25 November 1863
Memphis Tennessee
Nov 25th 1863
Dear Fannie
I have just a few moments in which to drop you a few lines. We are under marching orders and are to leave tomorrow morning at six oclock with ten days rations I presume it will be longer than that before we return to Memphis. I have heard that we were going to Moscow a town about fifty miles from here to take up some Rail Road track. I dont suppose that there is a fight expected though we may have one, for that country is full of Rebs. Our whole Brigade is going so that we shall / have quite a force along.
I received your letter of the fifteenth to day and was very glad to hear from you it came just in the right time for had it been one day later I should have missed it and perhaps I should not have got it until I returned to Memphis.
But Fannie dear my time is limited and I must close. Glen says, tell Sarah she is well and ask her how he is. pleas give my very best regards to all your people and accept much love for your-self from
Your little boy
Frank
P. S. I will write again the first opportunity I have. please direct to me at Memphis as before.
