Francis M. Guernsey to Frances E. Doty, 30 July 1865
Almond Wis
July 30th/65
My own dear Fannie
I came home from my Plantation (where I have been very busy at work ploughing for a few days past) last evening and found a good long letter from you, and I assure you that it was not long before I was perusing the contents thereof. I was glad to learn that you had received the package all safe. Fannie you spoke of never being able to repay the kindness &c. You forget my dear Girl that it is myself that is debtor, that my greatest happiness consists in seeing and making you happy, and that any little present of that kind which pleases you pleases me much more /
I have been to Church once to day and after church I went up to Mr Frosts. Ball and Augusta were out. they came last evening and are going to return this afternoon they make very short visits. this is the first time I have seen them since they were married. Sarah is going to Waupaca with them. Edson and myself are having great times we are at work on our farms and board at Mr Adams. we have some great times Mr Adams is a very jolly fellow and full of fun, so the time passes off quite lively. last evening when I came home I found our folks almost surrounded with Blueberries. they had washtubs, pails and basins full, in all nearly three bushels. they were not gone from home quite all day. Fannie dear I guess you will think this a rather of a queer letter, but you must / make great allowances for me to day for I have a severe head ache so that I dont know any thing scarcely. I was not aware that the days I mentioned came on Friday or Saturday. I think the day you designated (the 29th of Aug.) would be the best day we could select, every thing considered. I could then come up from Berlin Monday, we would be married Tuesday morning and go to Berlin the same day, and wednsday morning we would take the train for New York if this plan should suit you please write. I dont know whether I shall be able to come out again before the last of next month or not. if I can I shall do so of course. do you expect Charlie home. I hope he will come for I should like to see him very much. but Fannie dear I must close for this time. please write me soon give my regards to all and accept much love from
Frank.
