My own dear Wife
This is sunday and one of the longest and most lonesom days it has ever been my lot to experience. I arrived here last evening, and have been at work all of this day so far trying to amuse myself I have read all the old newspapers I can find and when they failed me I went to reading all the advertisements on the walls until I think I know them all by heart. I have finally concluded to write to my dear little wife for I know that I can spend a little time pleasantly in so doing and I presume she will / be glad to hear from me.
Fannie, I should like to see you very much this afternoon it would be far better than writing. you can’t imagine how lonesom I have been since last Monday morning. I was almost homesick before I got home that day, and have been growing worse ever since, so you can just imagine my condition. it is critical I assure you
Before leaving Berlin I purchased our Furniture, stoves &c. and wrote to George to have some teams meet me at Berlin next Thursday evening without fail. I shall buy my Goods here tomorrow and next day if I can so that I can get home this week. how long do you intend to stay at Weyauwega, and when may / I look for you home. You had better stay until sometime next week. I dont think Fannie it will be possible for me to come over to W. after I get home I shall have so much to do and my goods will probably be there as soon as I do, so you must coax up that good natured brother Charlie to fetch you home.
I went to the Theater last evening. Joan of Arc was played, ending with a very laughable Farce entitled Irish impudence and Yankee assurance the house was well filled and many of the uper ten of Milwaukee were out. but I guess that it is about time now for me to close. please write me at Almond as soon as you receive this. give my love to all and accept a great big bunch for yourself and lots of kisses from
Your affect Husband
Frank
