                                                                        Leesburg Va Augt 10/62
 
My Dear Lydia
                                    I have recd yours of the 30 Ins dated one day before mine to you from Getesburg I rote you and Martena each from Getesburg on the 31t. I hope they were boath recd We have burried him but Ma has taken It awfully hard but God knows what is best I am in a state of mind I hardly know what to rite you I am glad you felt the kind feelings to prompt you to get him out with you before he died. you lament he said nothing about you well that was because he did not where you lived at for you know you were his favorite he did not say one word in his letter about Ma or any of us I suppose because he thought we could not hear from him which was the fact but we have his remains with us. he looked in death more like you than any of his sisters I hope Martena got my letter I rote to hir from Getesburg let hir see this I suppose she has answered the one I rote hir from Getesburg. Where is B.F.H. I hope he is well as also all your family and Martena Mr Benedum and all the Children and now Lydia I commit you and F and all to the care of God hoping you will put your trust in him
