Since I wrote you last we have been sent out 18 miles north east of Nashville to camp sanders when we got here our company was all broke up and was divided among thre or four other tranes myself and six others was sent to Capt Rays trane we drive ox teams each of us drive three yoke I have not been out in the woods yet but expect to have to go tuesday we have to hall logs to the cumberland river we dont have to work sundays nor when it rains we dont have to lode nor unlode there is a set of men for doing that they all say that it is the easyest place to team that there is
Stevens is boss over a gang of / negroes he gets $75 per month Henry went with a gang of logrolers and gets $40 a month he is in the same camp with us and is here in our tent to day he is well as usual
yes was the first day I have worked since I left home and John Wait and me unloded about 50 tone of hay it was hard work I tell you but it aint verry that we have to work like that as a general thing when they go out with the teems each man halls about 4 logs a day we hall them about half a mile
that day when I was going to get onto the cars at Berea I heard some one call my name and looked up and there sat Henry looking out of the window he said that he went down to Lagrange to git onto the cars to go and make Parkers / folks a visit when he got my letter and did not go back home but come along I am going to send some of my pictures some and I want to have them kept safe till I come home
