Dear Father and Mother
I received a letter from you last night and now will try and answer it I am well and hope you are the same Henry is not verry well but I guess he will be all right in a day or two Jim Warner has come back from the hospital Leander Doolittle and Billy Beebe have both got there discharges and gon home I have heard that Alf Stevens has been discharge and gon home if he has I hope that he will get his neck broke on the rode I was glad that the draft had gon off and I hope that Len Warner will have to go or pay evry cent he is worth to get a substitute I hope that Porter Fosket will get well give him / my respects when you se him do you ever here from Eugene or Sam the government payed our transportation you say that the orcherds are in full bloom apples and peaches are as large as hickrys I have been out and eat all the strawberrys that I was a mind to I had all I could eat a week ago today that is a little earlier than they are up North we have been at worke part of the day today but captain Hodge says that he will give us next Saturday to pay for working today
the weather is very warm here now the watter in the Cumberland river is quite warm the boys go in bathing evry day or two is George going to go back to his regiment or is he going to try and get a discharge I think that he had not better go back till he gets well if he does at all /
has our Summer school commenced yet you must tell me how Lute and the schoolmam gets a long I suppose he is glad that I am not at home this sumer you can tell him that he can do jest as he is a mind to till I get home agane and then I will straighten him out if he dont suit me tell him that he must take all the comefort that he can for I will come home and spile his fun for him did Mrs Stranahan have any thing to say about me when she was up there is Nellie coming home to stay or is she going back agane give my respects to her if you se her give my respects to Angie to and tell her I listened to the patter of the soft rane on the tent the other night
tell sis that I got a lot of shells to fetch to her when I come home write soon and oblige
