Camp Sanders June 11/64
Dear Father and Mother
I received a letter from you last night and was glad to know you wer well I am well as usual Henry and all the rest of the boys are well as usuall you wanted to know if I had been sick I was sick two days that was all I got a letter from Alph Stevens the other day he wanted me to get his letters and send them to him tell him that there was only two and some one had opened them there was nothing in them I will keep them and bring them home if he wants me to or I will send them to him I dont care about puting myself out to oblige him I would like him to send that dollar he ows me /
you wanted to know how my cloths lasted me I have made them black pants last me till now I jest put on my blew ons to day I think that they have lasted quite well I think that you are getting rather expensive to rag out as you say you have I drawed a blanket and pair of pants we have grate times now eating Strawberrys and mulberrys there is any quantity of them and the nisest kind I got a letter from Mat Fuller the other day she was well as usual
the nuse is here that Morgan is within two days march of here with 5000 men some of the men here in camp are scart to death about it but it dont trouble me in the least our captain / and 50 cavalry men went out scouting the other day and came across some bish whackers and killed 10 of them and took some prisoners he has gon out agane today with captain Hodge I cant think of any more write soon and oblige

I will try and write a few lines to you I am getting a long tip top now I should think Lute would be up there quite often now that Angie is there I have not seen any pretty girls since I came down here is there any bird nests in my houses this summer did you tell Belle to send my picture back I hope that she will do what mind to with it be a good girl and go to school Newell /
P S I dont suppose that there is any use in writing to George in this letter for he will not get it if I do
