                                                                                                Camp Sanders June 26th/64
 
Dear Father, Mother and Sister
                        I received a letter from you last night was glad to here you wer all well I am well as usual Henry has not been verry well for a spell back and got discharged day before yestarday he left for Nashville yestarday to get his discharge transportation and pay Henry has not had the fever who told you he had there is 3 suttlers in camp but it is little I get of them I dont get only what I kneed them postage stamps you sent I received safe and also the money I am glad you got that dollar from Alph but you might have kept it the weather is verry warm here it does not rain verry often now wheat is ripe and agood share of it / cut oats are getting ripe corn is almost ready to tassle out onions and potatoes are large enough to eat I went out scouting last monday we went about 50 miles took dinner in the country had som rost beef corn bread wheat bread grean peas onions and milk we did not find any rebs we are going to move our camp over the river before long when we get over there we will have to take care or we will loose our scalps the bushwhackers fired on our pickets a night or two agoe and scart them half to death did not kill any of them I would like to get a shot at some of them with my revolver it is a clipper to shoot the barrel of it is 10 inches long it shoots six times I payed $18 for it I have been offered $20 for it a number of times since I got it write soon

                        I will try and write a few lines to you I see some nice girls the other day when I was out scouting dont think I will bring any of them home though you must break that wedding up that you spoke of we have lots of nice birds down her a mockingbird sang all night last night in a tree clost to our tent is Willie living to Zadocks house I cant think of any more
