                                                                                                Camp Sanders July 10th/64
 
Dear Father and Mother
                        I received your letter of the third a day or two ago and now will try and answer it I am well as usual as is the rest of the boys that came down when I did we are having verry warm weather down here now it has rained a number of times here lately and made the roads in the woods allmost impassable we are expecting to move from this camp in a few days we are going acrost the river when we move we are getting the logs most all halled out of the woods where we are now I am much obliged to you for them postage stamps that you sent me I received a letter from Mat Fuller and one / from Angie she wrote that Jim Warner had got home and they had a dance at her house the fourth have you heard from Henry since he got home I have been expecting a letter from him but have not got one yet I think that Angie is foolish to go to Michigan I think she will get the fever and ague wheather she is after it or not I think I had better stay six months for it wont be but a little while longer and then I will have $80 more to fetch home you must not feel any ways concerned about me for I am coming home all right when my time is out John Wait says if ever he sees Alph Stevens he will whip him all most to death and that is what most of the boys say / we had a good time here the fourth we had a barbecued hog and some rost beef and soft bread we have a flag that cost us $60 dollars it is a nice one I tell you we have not had any soft bread but twice since I came here and that was a day or two ago do you think Lute can cure your colt or not I cant think of any thing to write so you must excuse me this time write soon and oblige your Son

                                                                        how do you do this warm morning how did you like Uncle Toms Cabin the other night there is any amount of black berries down here and they are getting ripe now I could get you a mawking bird if I had any way / to keep it after I got it but I have not I think George and Angie must be pretty good friends but I dont care does the Mcmillan girls come to school or do they go to Brunswick how do you like your teacher this sumer
