Camp Sanders July 16/64
Dear Father and Mother
I received your letter of the 10th last night and now will try to answer it I am well as usual and hope to stay so there is not many sick in camp now John Wait is not very well but I think he will be around agane in a few days
we are expecting to leave this camp next monday and move acrost the river where there is more timber we have got most of the logs halled out of the woods where we have been at work. to day we have been halling small elm poals to make reaches and wagon tongues of we loded about 300 of them they have to be halled to Nashvile on lumber wagons /
you spok about Mrs Cole going after John Dudly is he sick or dead or what did she go after him for I had not heard as there was any thing the matter with him have you heard of any boys being killed that I was acquanted with I got a letter from George Metcalf the other day he said that the folks were all well but Henry did Henry tell you what it cost him to come home I expect to have to pay half faire when I come home if you see Alph S— tell him that some of the boys want him to send them papers down so that they can get discharged when there four months is out if he dont he will fare hard if they ever get hold of him they are calling for supper and I must quit there I have eat a mess of hard tack and sowbelly and / I guess I will stand it till morning things must be pretty high up there I should think when do they think the draft will come of up in Ohio do they think that the men that are at work down here are clear from the draft or are they not if they are clear of the draft I should think that there would be a good many coming down here to keep out of the army I cant think of any more write soon and

P S have all of my letters directed to box 220 Excuse mistakes and bad writing and I will try and do better next time give my respects to all enquiring friends /

I will try and write a few lines to you it is verry warm hear today and has not rained for quite a while it seams to me as though you had a good many new things I suppose when I come home and get on my old duds you will be ashamed of me you must not think I am going to look like Jim Warner when I come home for I dont think that I shall be quite as poor as he is here comes another letter from some one, let me see who it is from it was from Henry he is getting better
