                                                                                                Camp Hodge Sept 25th/64
 
Dear Father Mother and Sister
            I received your letter of the 18 a day or two agoe I was glad to hear you were all well I think you worry more about me more than there is any kneed of I dont think that I am in any great danger I think they have served Peat Rodes just right I wish Jase and Rob carr had to searve three years in the States prison
 
have they any suspition on any one for breaking into Roots store I hope they will find the thief the rebs did not burn our mill nor any thing except the suttlers tent only a few rebs came into this camp and they never would have come if we had stayed here in camp I did not hear of / any damages that Wheeler done except to tear up the railroad between Nashville and Chutunuga
 
William Born got a letter from home a day or two agoe and they wrote that Mr Born was not expected to live Everley and William Born are both well
 
                        you must excuse me for not writing more this time for I have got a bad head ache write soon and oblige
