Camp Toledo
Sept. 7th 1862
Dear Father
I have but little news to write to you we expect to leave to morrow one day last week Dan and Mary Mckay came here and stayed a couple of hours and then went home everything is all hurry and bustle here in Camp. According as things have turned I wish you had kept that ten dollars you sent me revolvers are not to be allowed I will send this bill back to you / and then have 15 $1 left. I have got an oil Clot blanket. we have got some very nice arms. they are Austrian Muskets Rifled in Springfield Mass when you write
I thought this business had better be done before we left here for then it would not go throug so many hands About the house I do not think you could do any better is Carles Blake going to take swan and how much will you owe him since I have been here I have committed no acts tat woul be a / a disgrace in private life, it is true I may never see home Again the Ocean has its bounds thus far Shalt thou go and no further
