Ludlow Jany 6 1862
Dear Brother,

I enlisted one week ago to day and come up here to drill yesterday and I wish you would come out here for I shall not have achanse to see you if you dont. I shall probably go home next satterday I think we shall leave for Brattleboro next week for we have / got 75 men now and they are coming in now verry fast. I like drilling verry well. only it is hard work last night my shirt was wet through I have not swet so this summer. we left Williams one week ago both off us it was a bad time but he said he hoped he had got Patriotism enough to let us go and we thought our Country neaded us more than he did. but I will close this
from your brother
