I was quite smart that morning but stired around to much but / feel some better this morning I hope I shall get up now Our Regt now is on Picket We left where we were at camp Chase to this on the Upper Potomac We are here to guard the River & Seneca Landing. I have not seen the whole Regt for three weeks dont know how long we shall have to stay here; I like our officers & our Col first rate but the Lieut Col is a drunken coot and a mean man, but we all like Col Jewit And we have got a good Capt & our second Lieut Perham cant be beat. he is as good a man as there is in the Regt he is round to see to the boys and sees to those that are sick I have not seen any Rebels yet only the inhabitants I think some of them are; but they keep verry still and it is best for them / for if they dont we will give them a dose of cold lead but I must close for this time write as soon as you can & I will try & write more next time we have got orders to move to morrow dont know where to
