Mary Why Can I hear To You Dear
                                                From Eph.

Mary, Some Other say they Love me best.
And no other on Earth could be so True.
If you will say you will leave them & come
And come & live with “me”   Eph. Miss B. L. Colvin

But oh what do you think I tell her     Dear Molly
When she writes to me so.
I say no doubt but what you love me              Betsy
But with my Molly Dear must I live with & Go.       with Mary

O. Molly can I Truthfuly say I love the Dear.
And Others may love The So.

Whisper to their Ear the is another more True that I love      has not Forgot

Ephraim E. Brown To Mary D. Babcock /

June 9th 1863   From Eph To Mary
Mary while on my lonley Post I stand
Our country to Defend
Its Sad Thoughts I have for You
While every moment may be my End.
Now the Rebs on yonder Banks they stand
Our Happy lives from us to take.
But oh Molly is not that our country to Defend
Is not our Glorious Stars more Great
Than the Rebel Stars & Bars.
I Trust we have a God full of love & care
Who will cause our country to Yet be filled & overpower
My Prayer is Daily that he will give us power
To bring them to our Tirms
Tirms of Peace, Truth & Everlasting Love
Friend Mary you I long to see
But under circumstances which I now Stand
I feel it my duty to
To serve 16 months longer with Uncle
Then Molly to you if my life is yet spared
I intend to return and hope
Will be permited to give to the Kiss.
            From Ephraim E. Brown /

Mary you will Please Excuse those few lines for it is well as I can do under circumstances I had to write them in a hurry and the is so many round you know to bother all the time it is enough to plage any one
