Harriet Howe Ames
Harriet Howe Ames was born around 1843 in Massachusetts. Around 1889, she became the first librarian of the Hoyt Public Library in Saginaw, Michigan, a position she held until 1919. A local writer noted that she had a “wonderful personality, a brilliant intellect, [and] a keen sense of humor.” She died sometime after 1919.
