Sabine Pass Texas      May 14th 1865
 
                                                            My Dear
                                                                        Miss A C Cors
Self of the presant to drop you a few lines to let you know
to Camp safe & found all Right when I got back found all
I have nothing new to write you times are very dull here in c
at all the same Monotony of an Idle soldiers life We are encamped
Town in a very pretty place about 1 mile from the Gulf
light at this time [?] & R H Womack are at Bolivar P
the carier line from this place to Galveston I am well
that I did not go a cross the Miss River We has just bin
Johnson & 6 Congressmen hav Bin assasinated & that General
declared Military Dictation of the United Stats We got the M
Orleans Paper perhaps it may be time I hope so at least
no chanse for us to leav this place for some time yet
which I do not think is fair distant I hope the time will
we all can come Home to those we love as freemen & will
Independance [paper hole] I wood rather never return if not
Independance or deth deth with me all ways first Write
Hast for the man that carries the letter is waiting
