                                                                                    Mr. Frost,
As soon as you receive this letter please send me some postage stamps, and also an express box containing two knit wrappers, two pair stockings, two very fine files, about a dozen sheets of the finest emery cloth you can get, three or four sheets of very coarse emery cloth and three or four sheets / medium emery cloth, and a pair of boots No. 10s and calf, double sole and uppers, or perhaps you would understand me better if I should say a pair of calf boots double sole and uppers No. 10s. also send me a song I saw Abbott advertise in the Waterbury American, called I my lonely watch am keeping, the song itself being the soldiers reply to When this cruel war is over. you may put just as many cakes, mince pies, and as much cheese, butter, dried beef &c. &c. as you please, you need not be afraid to put anything in fo fear of it spoiling, as boxes are coming through now in two and three days. be sure and put in some good eating apples and some nuts. I am in good health now and feeling good generaly. I came off guard last night. I suppose you heard of the execution of Dr. Wright of Norfolk for the murder of Lieut. Sanborn. if you have not let me know in your next and I will give you the particulars as I was present at the / execution. the weather is getting coolish here now. I heard the rumor the other day that Richmond was evacuated, but the rumor was so improbable that it was not believed.
