Dear Bro Hen
Our correspondence it seems has been broken off very abruptly, though whether it is my fault or yours I do not know. I do not recolect having received a letter from you since I wrote in answer to your letter with your Photograph enclosed. I’m thinking your time is to much engaged in business and running after the girls to think of writing to me. (I see by your Photograph that you are getting to be a tall young man) I am going to have my Photograph taken in a day or two and I will then return the favor by sending one to you.
You can tell Dave I recd his letter of the 29th yesterday. I am expecting the receipt to day so that I may draw the money, as I dont expect I can get it without / he didnt say who Mr Williams sent the money to but I suppose the Receipt will tell. I expect it is for Hugh Dogherty as I know he wrote on for some.
I forgot to state in my other letters that I seen Bill James a day or two before I was taken Prisoner he looked first rate and seemed to like soldiering well. his regiments time was almost out and if he got safe through the battles you will soon likely see him as he will go down there before he settles down again. he told me he had a wife and child in Johnstown and showed me their likenesses
Nothing more at present write soon
Give my love to Mother Sisters & Brothers & receive the same yourself from
Your Aff Bro
