Dear Brother Hen
I received an envelope from you last night with a piece of paper inside. I suppose it was meant for a letter but I must say that it did not look much like one. I suppose you had just commenced to write and had no time to finish it so you thought it would do to send as it was. I hope you will write longer letters in future You neednt be afraid. the Post Master wont charge any more for a full letter than for an empty one

Tell Dave that I received all the letters that he sent to Darnestown for me, also all the papers. I received the Budget of Fun on Saturday last. We receive mails every evening about 6 Oclock. It arrives / in Fredirick by 3 Oclock then it takes about 2 hours to distribute the mails and hand them over to the mail carriers of the different Regiments.

Well I suppose I have written about as much in my letter as you did in yours so no more at present from
