Respected Parents
I now take time to write to you to let you know I am well and I hope this will find you all well at Home.

I have not received a letter from Horn for some time but as we have been moving and fighting some I thought I must write to you and let you know I am well we made an advance on the Johneys the 25th and had quite a battle but we did not lose a great number we lost about 18 or 20 out of our Regt. in killd and wounded and I escaped unhurt once more and we are now in our old Winter quarters and we may stay here some time at least I hope we will..I know you would see it in the papers and so I thought I would write before you got worried about me /

You can tell Mr. Grants Folks that Albion is all right..and I see Frank Campbell this morning and he is well and all right..

I cannot write a long letter this time for I have got a considable to do to get setled down again and as soon as I get a chance I will write a longer one.

So give my love to Mother and Sis and tell them I have not forgotton them and I want you to write as often as you can and I will do the best I can..
