Dear Brother
and Sister with Pleasure I received yours of the 25 was glad to hear from you once more and to learn that you was well I am better than I was when I wrote you before thoug I am not so tuf as when I left old Clymer we have mooved our quarters about 8 miles up on the line of works at Fort 5th we have drawed our guns belts and 40 rounds of Catriges also our dress coats
Bill I tell you we have bisness enough we have to work night and day to day is Sunday we have been on drill and Inspection we have just eat our rations for dinner which was 2 hard tack and a cup of coffee the maggets was throwd in we get them extra you wrote Potatoes was good this year I would think so if I was where I could eat some / I have not tasted of a Potatoe or an Apple since I came to old va some of those apples would be good if we had them hear I want you to dry some for me when I get in to winter quarters I can get some and some sugar and above all dont forget the sauceage I want some of that I sent to you for a Pare of gloves buck skin good long rists send them by male I am glad to hear that old abe is the man up there that is our Stile.
Bill I am glad to hear Lote is well also our folks is better. I have not much time to write I must close for dress Perade write often to your brother bill Claud has got your dog that I borrowed last winter we have had verry dry and pleasant so far this fall with cold nights last nite it froze quite hard no more at presant from your Brother O Roades
