Citty Point Jan the 11th-/65
Dear Brother
I am well and
fatting like a Pig tuf as a bild owl I have but a few moments to spair I will improve them in writing to you I received those gloves to night am well suited with them I should like to know what they cost they will be warm and nice to stand guard with. I got a letter also from Lote that / that she wrote while at your House it must be that Deal and her had a big time while she was there
Bill there is not much news to write at Presant and I could not write them if there was for want of time But I will say yesterday was the rainest day I have seen since I came to Va it commenced raining about 12 oclock in the night / Clem and I was on guard when we come off at 8 in the morning we eat all we had to eat and did not have Half enough I told Clem if he would go with me I would get some thing to eat we had no money and we was gone 1 and 1/2 hour and got over 3 Haversacks full of bread I bet we have got enough to eat for 1 week if they dont give us enough to eat we will confiscate /
Bill there is a great excitement in Camp to night about an old freight car that run off the track the other night the Cap sais there is a going to be a search made for it in camp tomorrow they is is none in camp now but I could not say so last night at this time it was tore all to Peaces and caried to diferent companeys Clem and I haden ougt to make us a floor to our tent we caried it back Bill if they will let me go 4 weeks I will steal the whole suthern confederate States poor especially if I am hungry. I will send you a ring that I whittled out of loral rot that growd in old Va

I have not got time or I would finish it of nicer
Some of the boys had gloves sent for 2 cents and 1/2 lbs of tobaco for 4 ct
Bill you pay to mu much Postage on things it is onley 2 cts for 4 oz if not sealed
