Citty Point March the 9th-/65
Dear Brother and Sister
with Pleasure I seat myself in ans to yours of the 2th which I received last night was glad to hear from you and to hear that you was well. I am well and enjoy myself well I have just had a rastle with the boys I eat my supper and see them wrastle a long time they called me in I took hold and held the ring 1 hour and still hold it I have not been throad yet nor dont think there is enny thing in Co G that can do it. there is no wimin but if there was I would give in and not take holt. we have our fun and lots of it we get good war news the Disirting continues to be a subject of interest to all. each comes with his own opinion Some with scraps of information in regard to the / Presant movements in Richmond and Petersburgh there is good news from sherman in South Carolina He is Prosicuting his march with vigor and success also Sheridan there is a report that he has taken Earleys army numbering about 18,000 between Staunton & Sharlottsville we hope it is so there is good news from all Parts of the army you will get the news before this gets to you so I will not write them all is quiet in Camp and along the lines except an ocasional boom of the cannon is heard up front. Bill we are fixing up our avinue and the Head quarters it will be nice when we get it done I must close for rool call Pleas write soon and I remain as ever your affectionate Brother

Oil must be 4 or 5 feet deep on Spirit Hill by this time if I was there I would have a chance to Speculate with you and the rest of the Speculaters
