Erwin J. Eldridge to Emma Eldridge, 16 September 1861
Richmond Va
Sept 16th 1861
My Darling
Having an opportunity of sending to Georgia by a friend & thinking, as you asked me for my Ambrotype in uniform I thought this would be a good opportunity to gratify my little pet.
I am sorry I did not get a better picture but that I suppose will do pretty well.
I just put a letter in the office today & have nothing in the world to tell you.
I write to you in reference to the address in future—lest it should be unp[?] I will repeat it—Dr E., Col. H[?] Coblis 16th Cav. Regt. Care Hon. Wm M. Brown. Assistant Secretary of State, Richmond, Va /
Well my love I have nothing to tell you of & it is midnight & I have nothing to send but my ambrotype & all the love of your own loving Erwin
Love to Inez & “ale”
