Alexandria Sept the 17 1862
Well Nila I was thinking that you would like to hear from your All and as I have ben Choping to day I thought that I would let you know how we doe it down hear well thear was some whear about 80 of us that wer marched intow the fort and got our axes and then we wer marched about 1 mild and then we went to Choping down the white oak treas we cut over about 2 acer so that the guns could play on to a hill beyond Erastus got 3 letters to night and I got 1 from Lyman Tirell you tell Mother that we got the box and I got that tea I have not tried it yet /
we went on picket one day this weak we went home 5 milds of and I was in the advance gard thear were 6 of us we stayed thear 24 hours and had a good time and we have a good maney good times down hear and I hope that I shall get home next spring and then I can tell you whot I cannot write you must wait till then I cannot write aney more now
