Alexandria Sept the 25 1862
 
Well Nila I thought that you would like to hear from me and so I thought that I would try and pleas you though I am far from home it gives me great pleasure when I receive a letter from home and especialey from you I have just ben over and seen Thomas taylor he says that he is tough as ever and he feels first rate Peter Baker is getting better so that he is doeing Deutey Sam hall is in the same tent with tomey and Baker I received a letter from Wm Hubbard last night they wer not very well he said that he had enlisted so thear is 3 of us in the armey and I hope that / we shall all Join the armey of the Lord and be valient soldiers fighting for the Lord I have got some musmelon seeds that I will put in for you if I dont forget it Erastus has ben unwell 2 or 3 days but is better now I am well and tough as a knot I have not lost a single meal since I came into Camp the boys are all well I received a letter from H L Tucker and have answerd it yester day I wrote 2 letters and 1 to day will you not excuse me if I close now
