well Nila I thought that I would try and write you a few lines not knowing that you will ever get it thear is some thing about the mail we dont know what we have not had aney mail for about a weak but if you can get those that I send to you then you will hear from me and that will be better than nothing but I tell you I do like to hear from home and to hear how you all get along but I think that we shall get some mail to day but dont know I am well and tough as a knot EMH has ben sick 6 or 8 days he has the piles now I dont know how longe they will last him he feels rather down /
 
Thomas Taylor is sick he is in the camp hospital he has ben sick about 2 weaks he has a slow feaver but is better now so one of his tent mates told me yesterday they dont alow aney bodey to go thear or I should go and se him but now I cant we have had some rain down hear but it has cum of fine and warm we have skermish drill every morning first we have rol call and morning drill at 6 oclock then skermish drill at 8 1/2 for 1 1/2 hour then we dont drill aney more till 3 then we have batallion drill till 4 1/2 then we have dress perade at 5 oclock then we eat our supper and then we have role call at 8 then we can go to bed and lay till 6 then we have role call / again and so it goes but I suppose that you will say I have heard aneough of that well I dont know what to write but Nila you better gess that I have had some ginger tea I tell you that was good and so was all the things we have maid toast of them eggs and butter and have had 3 or 4 good meals of that when I cum home whitch I think I shall I shall do the cucking and you may rest up I suppose that you are all pining away but chear up and fat up and loock smart and hold up your head I have to hold mine up and loock streight a head and you may do the same and then we shall be mates take good care of them / Children and tell them that father says be good children tell fathers folks that I have not forgotten them but as you are thear close by them that they must read the letters and call it that it is to them and they must write to me and now I will close by preying that god will keep you all safe and bless you all as he sees you kneed and at last may we all meet in heaven to prais him for ever and ever
