Well Nila I received a letter from you to day and was pleased to hear that you wer all well and getting a longe finley I hope you will continue to do so while I have to stay down hear in Rebbeldum and I begin to think that we may have to fight perhaps whear we are yesterday I was on gard and last night all the rest had to sleep on their arms the report was that the Rebs wer within 10 milds of us and was cuming this way but I have not sean them to day I have ben to worck on the fort we shall have to worck some 10 or 12 days /
I want to know if you hear from Fathers folks I hear from them once in a while and should like to hear from some one every day I often think of my children and little small babey wife now Nila dont you feel bad for you know your All dont you but I am to bad to call you a babey for I think that you have showed your self a true woman I should like to just step in and spend the evening with you if my Companey will be axceptable to your self and consistent with my profeshion but my business will not permit and so I will try and be contented while I can hear from you and the rest /
you wished to know if I had a plentey of paper and envelops I have got paper and plentey like this that I am trying to write on for my Nila and a bout the stamps I am perfectley satisfide and a bout your writing I must say that I think you have improved and I hope you will keep on now try and go a head of this four lines for you have got a better place to write than I have for this is on my knee and I think you can spoil this I think that it would loock very well for a ladey or my wife but a neough of this henry Whitman and Billey Dolan got mad the other night and henry clinched Billey but Billey got the best of him and gav henry a black ey and would / have blacked the other ey if I had not stoped them henry clinched Billey first but was glad to let go when I stoped them I have got a buck hear that one of my tent mates was a going to throw a way I told him that he should not and he gave it to me it is the life of Adjutant stearns it is good perpaps perhaps I shall send it to you he was a Christian take good care of the children and tell Rila that I am glad to hear that she prays help her and lead her in the way sing and prey and may god bless you all pleas write me if you have got your stait aid My health is tip top good bless the lord for that
