My Dear Nila I now seat my self to write you a few lines to let you know that I am still alive and well but I have not got out of the Cuck house yet but shall soon I think they say that they want me in the Co and I had rather be thare we wer paid last thursday friday we wer paid onley till the first of November and the 13 dollars that we got in advance in worcester was taken out so that I got onley 27-60 cents and that leaves allmost three months pay my due now and when we get pay again I dont know but I send you a little present and that is all that I can do at this time / I will try and send you more if you will pleas to except of this for your kindness to me and mine this will provide you with some of the Comforts of life and I want you to do with it as you are amind I send you twenty dollars now get you what you want if you can when the next pay cums I hope that I can send you more I should this time but I have got to get me a pair of boots and they will cost some 6- or 7 dollars and them I have got to have Erastus has had some sent from home but I will get mine hear I want you to write me Just as quick as you get this for I shall think of it night and day till I hear yours
